“Body Work” in Home?Based Substance Abuse Care

This study examines “body work” in the context of home?based substance abuse care Finland, which is provided to adults with intoxicant problems and needing short? long?term support their everyday lives. article concerned specifically body work, can be defined as work focusing directly on bodies others. Through a twofold analysis 13 audio?recorded home visits ethnographic field notes, it what care, how close workers clients negotiate about it. The shows that site has an impact care. worker’s visit settles into tension relation between private public even if part weekly routine. Body holistic necessitating slight, medium, extreme bodily intimacy taking supporting client’s well?being. During visit, worker client its content. Worker communicate verbally non?verbally by gaze movements. Often have balance disciplinary, participatory, caring approaches living best possible way.
